Our first stop was at Geshur an Iron Age city 8-10BC, which had been burned. In 1989 the site was first excavated as a possible site for Bethsaida an important city in Jesus' ministry.
Our next stop was Korazin to see a Jewish Synagogue
From there we went to the Mount of the Beatitudes. Lovely grounds and the nuns keep shushing everyone who forgets that this is a place of prayer. We got shushed.

It was a lovely warm day and we were given the opportunity to walk down the hill
On to Capernum. This is a Holy Site so shoulders and knees must be covered. It is run by the Franciscan brothers. This is the location of Peter's house where Jesus healed Peter's mother in law from a fever.

This is Peter's house. A church has been built over it. Walls surrounding it are later additions.
Luke 4:38 After leaving the synagogue he entered Simon's house. Now Simon's mother-in-law was suffering from a high fever, and they asked him about her. Then he stood over her and rebuked the fever, and it left her. Immediately she got up and began to serve them.
The church is supposed to resemble a boat since Peter was a fisherman.
We also saw another synagogue. Possibly built over a previous synagogue where Jesus may have taught.
Lunch was my first experience of eating a whole fish! A little challenging, but tasty.
Rain began again as we were on the bus. We went to see the fishing boat.
On to Magdala the only 1st century synagogue in Galilee. After Mary Magdalene. We had the Eucharist in a lovely church in a room that was built to resemble an old synagogue.
A boat ride across the Sea of Galilee. We left Tiberias about 5:30pm so it was getting dark. Stopped in the middle to meditate on our day. Thankful for calm waters.
We are always running late for dinner. Where are they! Dinner at 7:00pm. Blogging and bed.
